Introduction

A briological team composed by Marta Alonso, María J. Cano, and Juan A. Jiménez from University of Murcia (Spain), and Abel Soares from University of Brasilia (Brasil) carried out an expedition to Brasil in May of 2012. This trip was funded by Spanish Ministry of Education and Science through the project “Studies in the family Pottiaceae in South America. Phase III” (CGL2010-15959). This exploration was carried out thanks to the cooperation of Paulo Câmara of the University of Brasilia (Brasil). We wish to acknowledge the assistance of Paulo Amorim (University of Brasilia), Allan L. Faria, (University of Brasilia), Denilson Peralta (Instituto de Botânica of São Paulo) and Denise P. Costa (Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro). About 500 specimens of bryophytes were collected, keeping primarily at UB with duplicates at MUB.
