Introduction:
The genus Syntrichia Brid. which contains about 84 species recognised, is a widespread group of mosses that constitute the 6% of the Pottiaceae family approximately. It is widely distributed in the world in a great of environments, mainly in temperate, arid, artic, alpine lands or mountainous tropical areas, where mainly grow on soil, rocks or trees. Currently, no comprehensive taxonomic treatment about Syntrichia is available, because the principal published works are regional accounts or detailed studies on some species, such as Kramer (1978, 1980, 1988) for east of Holartic Kingdom, Mishler (1993) for Mexico, Lightowlers (1985, 1986) for southern hemisphere and Gallego (2002) for Iberian Peninsula.
